Penny's entry - Two fairly difficult days. Started well yesterday with skinny dipping, etc. This was followed by the desolation of the Middle Level - high banks, so impossible to see anything plus a useless map for this part of the waterways. Where are we?! Entered the town of March under a railway bridge to be greeted by two lads swimming in the river who decided to pelt us with rather large stones. Their aim was not the best, luckily! Desperate search for hot-spots in March, ended up in the library for ten minutes. After leaving realised we'd left the camera battery charger - charging - behind and the library was closed! After an hour of phone calls which produced no results, we retired to the local hotel, The Old Griffin, for a much needed drink. The hotelier, Martin Ellis (alledgedly famous ex-rock star?), came to our rescue. He offered to deliver the offending item to our boat the next day - by motorbike. A true gentleman! Thank you, Martin! Reached Stanground Lock on the outskirts of Peterborough and the gears jammed. Had to call out a man from the local boat yard. All was put right and we proceeded into the town. Not sure where we will end up tomorrow.... Now two weary river travellers are going to wend their way to bed. Good night!
